Because writing brings people joy.
Because there is no more value in heavy, tears-splattering-parchment-pages prose than there is in a fluffy romance that you tuck in your bag to reread for the third time while drinking a coffee on the train home from work. Because if the tear-splattering prose enriches your experience in any way, then you should enjoy it, but you shouldn’t feel obligated to pretend that it doesn’t drain you. Because some people find value in feeling emotionally drained. Because catharsis for me isn’t catharsis for you, and that’s wonderful, and that’s why there are so many writers, and that’s why every piece has the perfect reader.
